The story
Casa Agave is a restored colonial compound in Oaxaca’s historic center, revived by a family of mezcaleros and architects. Rainwater cisterns, passive cooling, and a zero-waste kitchen sit alongside residencies for local artisans. Every stay funds a youth cultural preservation program. The property’s Internal Audit package—published methodology, third-party reviewed—earned it a place on Biospheric despite a smaller international certification footprint.

Sustainability focus
Culture that isn’t extracted
The artisan residency program is real—we met weavers who live from the work, not photo ops. Rainwater systems and zero plastic were seamless. Casa Agave feels like a home that happens to be rigorously green.
